English

English is a compulsory subject for all pupils up to Year 12. Our policy is to enter all our pupils for KS3 English in year 10 and GCSE English in year 12.

In years 11 &12 one of the three groupings takes both English and English Literature to GCSE level. The remaining two classes study English to GCSE level.

Last year every pupil in Year 12 achieved a GCSE grade in this subject - one of our departmental aims.

At AS & A Level our students study English Literature.

Our A Level pupils also have the opportunity to take Key Skills Communication Level 3.

Pupils also have the chance to enter public speaking competitions in KS3, KS4 and at sixth form level.
