Andrew Brown who left school in 1988 will soon become National President of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. This is one of the most significant positions in the teaching profession throughout the United Kingdom and it is extremely unusual for someone from Northern Ireland to be appointed to such a role. Andrew is currently Northern Ireland President of the ATL.
Alexander McCooke was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Middle Temple on 9th October 2008. Alexander completed his LLB Hons degree in Law at Dundee and subsequently was awarded the Robert Garraway-Rice Scholarship by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple to train as a Barrister.
Alex Craig not only gained a First Class Honours Degree from the University of Ulster but also proposed the vote of thanks from the students to the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony held in a packed Waterfront Hall in June.
Regular travellers on the motorway to Dublin will undoubtedly have admired the ultra modern bridge over the river Boyne which has become one of the iconic symbols of modern Ireland. John Iliff who was Head Boy in Ballycastle was the project engineer responsible for the building of the bridge and in the past John has worked on major construction projects in Bahrein, Dubai and Oman where he was responsible for the building of a hangar for the Sultan’s Boeing 747. John was also responsible for the south side of the Queen Elizabeth bridge over the Thames and the bridge which connects Hong Kong airport to the mainland. |
